1. Check marker lids
Before packing your markers away after a creative session, quickly check the caps are on firmly. Push down on the lids and down on the base to check the lids are on as tight as possible.
2. Storing alcohol markers
The best way to store alcohol markers is to store them horizontally and in a cool, dry place. Keeping them horizontal will keep the ink flow steady and help stop the nibs from drying out too. Keeping your markers out of sunlight also helps stop the alcohol from evaporating.
3. The type of paper
Sounds crazy, but hear us out here, the type of paper you use will also determine how much ink is used from the markers. Regular sketch or copy paper is more porous, so more ink will be used with this type of paper -- because it absorbs more ink.
The best paper for alcohol markers is marker paper because its less porous, plus, marker pads are usually bleed-proof, so you can say goodbye to streaky lines and ink transferring onto the next page.
4. Use them correctly
Excessive pressure can damage the nib inside the marker, so use a light to moderate pressure when drawing and colouring. Not sure how to blend and layer your alcohol markers? Check out this how-to.
