How to paint a pizza on a round canvas panel
1. Paint the crust
- Squeeze out Yellow Ochre and paint a ring around the edge
- Mix in Chinese White and blend toward the centre for a soft gradient
- Optional: Add a crispy, baked look by dabbing a Yellow Ochre + Burnt Umber mix
2. Sauce painting
- Use Brilliant Red and a filbert brush
- Paint just inside the crust—don’t worry about keeping it too neat
3. How to paint cheese
- Pick a yellow paint you like
- Use a 25mm flat brush to loosely cover the centre of the canvas
- Let the yellow flow over the red—it’s melty cheese after all!
4. How to paint tomato
- Dip the rim of a plastic cup into Brilliant Red and stamp onto the canvas
- Fill in the circles with red
- Add a small white highlight in the centre
- Once dry, add yellow for the seed shapes
5. Stamp the pepperoni
- Use the base of the same plastic cup
- Stamp smaller circles and fill them with Old Mauve
- Once dry, dot in white + Burnt Umber to give texture
6. How to paint onion
- Use white paint and the same cup rim
- Outline the rings with a liner brush for extra pop
7. Stamp the olives
- Use a black paint tube cap
- Stamp circles in black
- Outline them with a liner brush
- Add a curved highlight using a mix of black + white (light grey)
8. Add fresh basil
- Paint the shape in white first so the green pops
- Let it dry
- Layer Sap Green on top for those fresh, leafy touches
That’s it – one seriously tasty-looking pizza! 🍕
This is a great one to customise with your favourite toppings or even turn into a sweet dessert slice. It’s creative, playful, and a great way to spend a relaxing afternoon painting.
